The Farm to School (F2S) Program

Developed to educate Nantucket children about our local food system, we work with students in the classroom, in after-school programs, and in our popular summer camp to teach them about nutrition, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and the joys of growing your own food. We also partner with the Nantucket Public School Food Service Department to increase the amount of locally sourced produce served in school lunches through grants, gleaning and our Harvest of the Month program.

  • Providing Local Produce in the Nantucket Public School Cafeteria

  • Supporting Science and other NPS Curriculum

The Farm to School Committee

The Farm to School Committee comprises Nantucket community members of all professions. Members of the committee help with a variety of tasks to support the various Farm to School programs. Whether it is teaching during our summer camps, helping maintain the garden on clean up days, providing guidance for best agricultural practices, engaging in outreach to families or washing vegetables in the school cafeteria, our committee members are dedicated to getting children in the garden and healthy food on their plates. We appreciate our committee members and could not do what we do without them! Currently our members are: Ella Potenza, Beth Davies, Sean Allen, Hunter Stojak, Zacil “Sassy” Nash, Linda Peterson and Posie Constable.

If you are interested in becoming a Farm to School Committee member please contact our Farm to School Manager, Ella Potenza, at f2s@sustainablenantucket.org.
